Holiday Grinch and talented amazing people

My Sister is known to us as the drill sargent of the store.      she is always after us to clean up and put things away, or gives us work to do all day long.   I came up with a great idea a month ago, it was to make a DIY christmas bead book so my very talented brother in law has been working really hard on the layout of this book as the creative director I had no idea how much work goes into making a book even it is is litttle. my sister has also given him a list of projects that he needs to finish in a hurry (what's New?) we are always in a hury!    my brother in law is teasing my sister that she stole 2 of his HOLIDAYS from work so he as affectionally called here the grinch.. take a look at the face of the photo does it look familiar??  haha haha!! it's Debbie.  but my brother in law should not be to worried... since he did so much work for us we are sending him on a vacation to visit his parents in ASIA.. lucky ducky

Last night, I went to see the Micheal Jackson movie I have to be honest, I was not planning to see it my cousin took me to dinner for my birthday and her friend wanted to see it so I tagged along.   I always liked his music and wondered about some of the controversy that followed him .. just watching all the footage of the rehersals gave me chicken skin seeing and hearing, watching the talent and how this man thought out of the box how he encouraged the best out of each of his tour staff and how he loved his sparkle!!  do you know that the blue Billie Jean Suit he was going to wear had 7-1/2 pounds of Swarovski crystal on it?   If you have some time, it's a must see and a closure to his life work.

Where can you find Inspiration?

I have found that Inspriation can come from just about anywhere anytime.. you could find it by starring at the clouds, a swirl in leaves, texture in a garment, jewelry,  music even food.
when I am creating new jewlery pieces, I like to spill out a whole bunch a beads and work with it in piles  so that I can see everything at once.
and sometimes the ideas are slow to come but
after sitting there for a while and trying different
options the ideas start to flow and like magic.. there are my little creations.

I recently purchased a  few magazines at the Borders I think you may enjoy. first of all
Where Women Create Now I have to tell you that this is my favorite magazine and I cannot wait until they release new issues. this is the most inspiring magazine as it goes into the lives and workspaces of some of our favorite well known creative women..
 then I picked up STUFFED..
okay, this is not for everyone but if you do alittle bit of sewing you can appreciate this the projects are so ugly and odd that they are so darn cute you want to make one   I had to pick this one up mainly for the deer and the owl.
and lastly, Green crafting... a different take on crafting as we know it but it's so interesting how someone could take a dryer sheet and make something cool from it.

Color combinations

As we get dressed each day, we choose thru our drawers and closets full of clothes deciding on what to mix and match as far as colors and prints. what about me?? well, I am almost embarrassed to say, that 99.9% of my closet holds black clothes.. in fact, when I happen to wear something with a color.. my friends say, oh! so you do own different color clothes!!!
OK.. so in my defense, there are 2 reasons I wear black... one because when I shop, I either like the design and not the color, or I like the color but not the design. I think that if they had a vending machine that you can choose the size, color, print and then boom it comes out exactly the way you like it than, maybe I would have more colors in my wardrobe.
the 2nd reason is.. that with black I can accessorise and my sparklie Crystal jewels will show up better..
I have found that for alot of our customers, they have a hard time choosing and matching up colors and textures.. and they come to us for help in choosing color palets that compliment one another there are so so many colors, shapes, textures out there that how do we choose?
we have all heard of the color wheels that have been used for years to say what color season you should wear to match you? but the same does not go for beading..
Crystallized with Swarovski Elements has innovated this new color wheel using the colors in their bead and pearl lines it's really a cool tool because, it has helped many mix and match in unique color combinations that they would never imagine.
this color wheels is so affordable selling for only, $4.00 fun and useful.

Rivoli or ravioli?

often, we recieve phone calls asking if we carry ravioli stones.... so we ask ravioli?? isn't that pasta? do you mean rivoli ? and the answer to that is YES!

rivoli is a fancy stone cut made by swarovski it is one of the most multi purpose of all stones and is available in many sizes and colors ..
another unknown fact is: it is one of the least expensive of the fancy stone line for how much effect it gives off...

I have to also say.. when you purchase a rivoli stone, make sure that it is Swarovski crystallized Elements... not czech or china made... how can you tell? simply hold the piece in between your pointer and thumb fingers and gently spin the rivoli. you will see the facets dance.. other manufactures of this shape cannot reproduce the amazing facets that swarovski crystallized elements does.
FYI... thes little beauties are available in standard colors along with aftermarket coatings like chili pepper , verde, vitrail medium etc.. we stock a lovely assortment of colors and sizes.. come in and see the collection.

Welcome to the new and hopefully improved Creations By You information superhighway
way back in April, I started playing around with blogspot but as you can see, just 2 posts since... ( I am still practicing ! ) time is always a factor... there is only 24 hours in a day.. I need a minimim of 30!
first of all we have an addition to the Creations By You family, I now have the cutest one month old grandson his name is Ryan.. he and my daughter live with me so that means I am a full time grandma and when he wakes up at 3:30 am to drink a bottle... I wake up to make sure his mother doesn't fall asleep feeding him... so I have a broken sleep pattern. by the time I have a chance to do some writing... I am much too sleepy I suppose God created coffee for the very reason of helping us keep awake when we need to or even just to use as a personality adjustment...for those of us who are ADD which coffee helps also. my coffee intake is now 3-5 cups :( I save it to survive the day...
enough of me... you must come to the shop and meet Sabrina who is a very sassy kitty she loves sparkly goodies .. she even has a rhinestone collar and eyes! she only eats Crystal I promise and no litter box ... she is our newest bead charm kit.
Classes...
our class schedule is out take a look and reserve your space..
